The Great Gatsby was required reading in English Lit when I was in 2nd year college. Had to write a book report. I hated that novel. Hated the characters, hated the pace. Looking back, perhaps, it was the lifestyle and mindset of the era that I really hated and Fitzgerald just captured it perfectly in his book.
